Your Caltech ID is enabled with a stored-value account called SmartCash. SmartCash is the easiest way to make purchases on campus. To use it, just deposit money into your SmartCash account online using your Visa, MasterCard or American Express card, or you can stop by the Campus Card Office in person, and pay with cash or check. Once you've made a deposit, your account balance will decline with each purchase you make. Your SmartCash balance even rolls over from term to term and year to year.
With the addition of its SmartCash feature, your Caltech ID is all you need to get through the day at Caltech. Your Caltech ID and SmartCash allow you to:
- Access Buildings all over campus, including Avery House, Millikan Library and Sherman Fairchild Library
- Use campus photocopiers
- Do laundry without the hassle of searching for change
- Eat at on-campus dining establishments
How to get a CaltechCard
To obtain a CaltechCard, please bring with you one form of government issued photo identification(e.g a driver's license, state ID, passport, etc.) and a copy of your class schedule, hiring documentation or appointment letter to the Card Office.
