Guidelines for ID Photo Submission – Incoming Freshman & Transfer Students
In an effort to streamline the check-in process for incoming students, Caltech Card Services requests that all new students electronically submit a photo for use on their Caltech ID cards.  The guidelines for submission are as follows:
Acceptable Photos

• Any passport photo
• A non-passport photo fitting the following requirements:
• The photo must be of only the student (no group photos)
• The photo must be taken from directly in front of the student (no side angles)
• The photo must be in color
• The photo must have a solid background
• No sunglasses, hats, hoods, masks, etc.
• JPEG format, under 1 MB if possible

If your photo fails to meet one or more of these requirements, you will be notified and asked to resubmit the photo.

 

Submission Process
Once you have received your Caltech UID and email address, send an email to cardoffice@caltech.edu including the following:

• Full Name
• UID
• JPEG fitting the parameters above
  

 

The deadline for photo submission is 9/16/2009.  Your ID card will be available on check-in day for you to pick up at Card Office located in the Caltech Store.  If you have any questions regarding the photo submission process, please contact the Card Office at the email address above, or (626) 395-6169.

Why Use SmartCash?

• A Budgeting Tool. Your student's SmartCash account is the most effective method of establishing a budget. It's the perfect debt-free alternative to giving your student a credit card.

• Secure. Using SmartCash is safer than carrying cash. Accounts are value-protected against loss or theft once a card is reported missing. Your student doesn't even need to wait until regular business hurs to report a missing card; Online Card Office allows cardholders to suspend activity instantly.
